DESCRIPTION:A non-minimal coupling xi of the Higgs field to gravity can gi
ve rise to inflation within the Standard Model\, but a simple tree-level a
nalysis indicates that a large value of xi is required. This may cause a\
nproblem for the model due to a breakdown of perturbative unitarity below
the inflationary scale. In this talk I will investigate how a Higgs mass
in the 125--126 GeV range can significantly reduce the value\nof xi requir
ed for inflation through the running of the Higgs self-coupling to small v
alues near the Planck scale. A new region of inflation with distinct pred
 ictions\, including an observable level of the\ntensor-to-scalar ratio\, i
 s also discussed.
