DESCRIPTION:Copper and other face-centred cubic (fcc) metals are widely us
ed in industry and accurate predictive models give valuable input to the d
esign process. This seminar will discuss: the main features of the deforma
tion behaviour of fcc metals taking copper as an example\; how this led to
the development of a constitutive model\; the form of the constitutive de
formation and fracture model\; how the constitutive model was modified in
the light of experimental evidence and the requirement for a strong link b
etween deformation and fracture. Future challenges will be described.
