DESCRIPTION:I present the results of comprehensive laboratory experiments
and numerical studies addressing droplet growth and droplet size distribut
ions in systems where droplets grow due to sustained supersaturation of th
eir environment.\n\nBoth\, for droplets condensing on a substrate (like de
 w) and droplets entrained in an external flow (like in clouds)\, we observ
e remarkable shortcomings of classical scaling theories addressing these g
rowth processes. The origins of the discrepancies are identified\, and app
ropriate extensions of the theories are discussed.\n
