 eaker: \n\nIssam Dairanieh is the Global director of BP Ventures. Issam he
 ads-up the team that makes strategic investments in emerging energy techno
 logies of interest to BP.\n\nThe Ventures team started investing in renewa
 ble power generation\, energy efficiency\, energy storage\, Biofuels and C
 arbon Management.  But since 2011\, the team has expanded its scope beyond
  Alternative Energy to cover both downstream and upstream oil and gas emer
 ging technologies.  Since its establishment in 2007\, BP Ventures made ove
 r 30 direct and indirect investments.\n\nIn addition to team leadership\, 
 deal origination and execution\, Issam participates in portfolio managemen
 t and currently serves on the board of eight companies\, either as a direc
 tor or an observer. \n\nPrior to moving to Alternative Energy in 2006\, Is
 sam spent 8 years with the New Business Development Division at BP Chemica
 ls where he conducted product and application development as well as techn
 ical service and commercial development.  Prior to that \, Issam was a pro
 fessor of Chemical Engineering.\n\nAccess to Energy (and clean water) by t
 he bottom of the pyramid is a near and dear issue to Issam’s heart\; an 
 issue that he hopes to exploit his professional experience to bring soluti
 ons to those of need.\n\nIssam has B.S. degrees in Chemistry as well as Ch
 emical Engineering and completed his MS and Ph.D. at the University of Ill
 inois in Urbana-Champaign. Issam has completed executive training at Imper
 ial College\, UC Berkeley and Harvard.
