DESCRIPTION:*Abstract*\n\nIn this talk\, I will explore some of the creati
 ve practices exemplified in the work of David Bowie\, including the adopti
 on of invented personas\, musical and aesthetic style transformations and 
 the importance of key collaborative partnerships\, tracing the impact and 
 influence of these practices on the wider cultural world\, including my ow
 n music making.  Looking at his latest album "The Next Day"\, we will cons
 ider what can still be learned from this postmodern pop star whose career 
 spans 5 decades.\n\n*Bio*\n\nLeah Kardos is a composer/producer\, educator
  and pop culture enthusiast who is active in contemporary classical\, expe
 rimental\, media and commercial music circles.  A signed artist with Bigo 
 & Twigetti\, her creative work focusses on studio-based composition\, the 
 communicative power of timbre\, memory and pattern recognition and the man
 y ways music and sound connects with life.\n
