\n\nhttp://www.crassh.cam.ac.uk/events/25206 \n\nThe growth of mobile int
ernet access coupled with advances in technologies for aggregating and sea
rching collections data has opened important debates about how mobile devi
ces such as smartphones and tablets might be used to enrich the way we eng
age with cultural information.\n\nMuseums\, galleries\, libraries and arch
ives are among the key cultural institutions grappling with the legal and
technical challenges of balancing visitors’ changing expectations with c
reators’ and publishers’ rights and their own well-established practic
es in cultural information management\, following the adoption of digital
collections management systems.\n\nAt present\, the UK museum sector is ex
periencing a digital Research and Development phase with numerous developm
ent programmes underway exploring the role of smartphones and tablets insi
de and outside cultural venues. Similarly projects supporting the aggregat
ion of collections data at local\, national and European level have receiv
ed significant funding in recent years.\n\nThe conference will bring toget
her experts from the UK and the US engaged with the use of mobile devices
in their respective cultural sectors.\n\nFor more information please visit
 : \nhttp://www.crassh.cam.ac.uk/events/25206\n\nMobile Collections is a Re
search Project based at CRASSH funded by the Arts and Humanities Research
Council (AHRC) with Creative Economy Knowledge Exchange funding.
