DESCRIPTION:The vortex-wave system is the coupling of the 2D vorticity equ
 ation with the point-vortex system\, and it is a model\nfor the motion of 
 sharply concentrated vrtices within a smooth(er) vorticity background. Thi
 s system was introduced by Marchioro\nand Pulvirenti  in 1991. In this tal
 k we will give a fairly complete look at what is known and what is not kno
 wn about this system.\n\n
