DESCRIPTION:The Grand Chamber of the Court of Justice of the EU will soon 
 determine whether the EU Data Retention Directive complies with the requir
 ements of the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights. Under the Directive\, priv
 ate communication service providers must retain the communications data of
  its customers for up to two years for law enforcement purposes. This pres
 entation discusses the implications of the main recommendations that the A
 dvocate General has submitted to the Court before it decides the fate of a
 n EU law that has raised human rights concerns within the EU institutions 
 and in national courts across the EU since its inception.\n\n\n
