DESCRIPTION:Jonathan Shanklin will describe some well-known historical com
 ets before moving on to a few of the more memorable ones that he has obser
 ved\, beginning with the infamous comet Kohoutek.  We now have a good scie
 ntific understanding of comets\, but pseudoscientists still have a field d
 ay when a bright one is forecast.  He will explain how to observe comets a
 nd conclude with the prospects for the comet that has been heralded as The
  Comet of the Century.\n\nJonathan is a long-standing member of CUAS and w
 as Obs Sec and Chairman when he was an undergraduate.  He is our Senior Tr
 easurer and is the Director of the BAA and SPA Comet Sections.
