DESCRIPTION:This talk will describe the emergent area of trapping and cool
 ing mesocopic particles in vacuum. Recent studies on rotating micron sized
  vaterite particles at frequencies up to 10MHz and their cooling will be d
 escribed. The extension to two particles and applications in quantum physi
 cs will be discussed.
