SUMMARY:&quot\;The genetics of adaptive evolution: insights from colour an
d pattern in birds and butterflies&quot\; - Dr Nicola Nadeau\, Department
 of Zoology\, University of Cambridge

DESCRIPTION:I will give an overview of my research\, starting with work on
the evolution of avian pigmentation genes in response to sexual selection
. \n\nMy more recent work has focused on the genes underlying colour patte
rn variation in Heliconius butterflies. Overall this has led to some insig
hts into the types of genes and genetic changes that give rise to adaptive
  phenotypic evolution.\n
