DESCRIPTION:The ‘Visual anthropology and contemporary South Asian histor
 y conference’ aims to offer historians\, anthropologists and postgraduat
 e history students a unique opportunity to share and strengthen their scho
 larship within a cross-disciplinary research network concerned with the cr
 ucial relevance of applying theories of visual anthropology to the study o
 f contemporary South Asian history. \n\n*Call for Papers*\n\nThe conferenc
 e invites contributions addressing the following and related topics:\n-   
     Perspective on visual anthropology and South Asian history\n-       Th
 e use of visual records in producing new histories of South Asian identiti
 es\n-       Digital anthropology and representation of contemporary South 
 Asian societies\n-       Practice-based research methods combining visual 
 and historical studies relevant to South Asia\n\nThe organisers invite pro
 posals for papers or presentations of 20 minutes in length. Abstracts of 3
 00 words and an author biography (incl. institutional affiliation) should 
 be submitted via email to vacsah.conf.2014@gmail.com by 3 January  2014.  
 Notifications of acceptance will be sent by 20 January 2014.
