DESCRIPTION:The aim of my research is to explore the transition from crime
to conformity among Chilean juvenile offenders and to identify theoretica
l\, policy and practice implications from the findings. For these purposes
\, the research is focused towards examining two main issues: (1) how Chil
ean juvenile offenders move away from crime and (2) what factors may be in
volved in the transition from crime to conformity.\nThis talk addresses th
e work carried out during the first year of my PhD. Based on a comprehensi
ve literature review\; I present the aim of my research project\, its res
earch questions\, methods of data collection and ethical considerations. F
inally\, I will discuss how desistance from crime can be defined and opera
 tionalised. \n
