DESCRIPTION:The study of semimetal surfaces including those of various top
ological insulators represents a new wide territory of investigation for h
elium atom scattering. \nOwing to the nature of the He-surface scattering
process\, inelastic scattering intensities convey direct information on th
e electron-phonon (e-p) coupling strength of these surfaces. As a conseque
nce of the e-p coupling helium scattering can observe subsurface phonon mo
des which can even be localized several layers beneath the surface.\n
