DESCRIPTION:Non-cognitive attributes (i.e.\, interpersonal skills\, psycho
logical characteristics) have been highlighted as a key area of importance
in the selection of teacher candidates in the UK (Donaldson Report\, 2010
 \; House of Commons Education Committee\, 2012). Non-cognitive attributes
are currently assessed non-systematically through evaluation of personal s
tatements and observation of behavior during the interview process. In thi
s talk I discuss new theory- and evidence-based approaches to assess non-c
ognitive attributes in the selection of teacher training candidates (and t
eachers) in the UK and internationally. \n\nBio\nRob Klassen studies st
