DESCRIPTION:Jean Glasberg has lived in Cambridge for over 30 years\, teach
 ing for many years in the English Department of Anglia Ruskin University. 
 She has also acted as Series Editor for Cambridge University Press on many
  \npublications\, including Cambridge Reading\, Passports to Literacy\, \n
 Cornerstones for Writing and most recently the 'Why?' series of primary \n
 science books.\n> \n Eric and Elena\nMy father\, Eric Gemmell\, was sent t
 o Russia on one of the Arctic convoys when he was just 21 years old. He fe
 ll in love with Elena and they wanted to marry\, but were separated first 
 by the war and then the 'iron \ncurtain' for over 50 years. This talk\, il
 lustrated by photos of the key people and places\, looks at the impact of 
 historical and political events on their lives and the consequences of the
 ir relationship for both their families.\n
