DESCRIPTION:The Square kilometre Array (SKA) will be a transformational\ns
 cience instrument delivering two orders of magnitude improvement in\nsensi
 tivity over existing facilities and a mapping speed approaching a\nmillion
  times faster.  In this talk I will start by discussing some of the\nkey s
 cience which is driving the design of the SKA and also give an update\non 
 the project status.  I will then consider how this science is driving th\n
 overall design of the instrument and briefly discuss some of the technical
 \nwork we are doing here in Cambridge to make the SKA a reality.
