DESCRIPTION:A well known informal principle says that on a paracompact spa
 ce\, locally finite closed covers are just as good as open covers. In this
  talk\, I will make this principle precise\, and provide a systematic comp
 arison of the two sites involved. This comparison will be seen to nicely i
 llustrate various aspects of elementary topos theory (I mean\, the element
 ary part of the theory of Grothendieck toposes).
