 iversity College London

DESCRIPTION:Brain inhibition relies largely on inhibitory neurotransmitter
receptors activated by GABA. Following an introduction on GABA receptors
and inhibitory synapses\, the presentation will focus on allosteric regula
tion of GABA receptors by naturally occurring molecules released in the br
ain - the neurosteroids. The second part will concentrate on genetic issue
s and how altered brain inhibition might contribute to alcoholism.
