DESCRIPTION:In recent years\, motor racing has demonstrated some features
of rubber friction. These include the need to match tyre to track\, tempe
rature sensitivity or performance\, track changes with use and rain\, and
tyre wear. Also\, particularly due to B.N.P. Persson\, advances in the th
eory of rubber friction have been made. The theory will be outlined and r
elated to what can be observed on the track.
