DESCRIPTION:The Ancient Human Occupation of Britain (AHOB) projects have b
een investigating major questions about the human colonisations of Britain
and Europe\, since 2001. Questions addressed include the earliest evidenc
e for human arrival\, and the overall pattern of occupation during the Pal
aeolithic\, and what was controlling this. In this talk I will provide an
update on the progress of the project\, including the latest data from Eas
t Anglia about the earliest known human presence in Britain\, and how this
relates to evidence from continental Europe. At the other end of the Pala
eolithic record\, I will discuss current views on Neanderthals and early m
odern humans\, together with the latest results of DNA studies about their
  relationship.
