DESCRIPTION:Water is essential to health\, agriculture and industry\, econ
omic and social development. In 2010 the UN declared a human right to wate
 r. However\, increasing consumption\, urbanisation and population growth c
hallenge its availability and distribution. Climate change results in more
floods and draughts\, and the OECD estimates that half the world’s popu
lation will live in water scarce areas by 2030. How can we ensure access t
o water for everyone\, while also encouraging people to value it as a fini
te resource? How could a market for water be regulated responsibly with re
gard to pricing\, competition and the environment\, while keeping it attra
ctive for firms and investors? How can we foster innovation and ensure tha
t promising tools are made available on a global scale?\n\nThis event will
bring together experts from science\, policy and industry to discuss stra
tegies for the sustainable management of our most vital resource.\n\nThis
