DESCRIPTION:John Parker\, former Director of Cambridge University Botanic 
 Garden\, will describe Darwin's visit in 1835\, explore the geological and
  biological sites that greeted him\, and consider what influence these exp
 eriences had on his thinking. He will compare Darwin's voyage with the sit
 uation that visitors will find today\, and consider our understanding of t
 he islands in the light of evolution.
