DESCRIPTION:Although biological imaging techniques have seen vast improvem
ents\nover the past century\, there is still no method capable of\nreconst
ructing the whole neuronal circuitry in a tissue sample\;\ninformation tha
t is direly needed for a better understanding of how\nthe brain works. Ser
ial Block-Face Scanning Electron Microscopy\n(SBFSEM)\, developed by W. De
nk and H. Horstmann in 2004\, promises to\nfinally provide an answer to th
is central question of\nneuroscience. Yet interpreting the data proves to
 be a challenge for\nsignal reconstruction techniques.\n\n\n
