DESCRIPTION:In 2008 a group of scientists from the Institute of Nuclear Sc
iences at the National Autonomous University of México (ICN-UNAM) created
a science educational program for Mexican youth and teachers in four stat
es: Programa Adopte Un Talento ( Program Adopt a Talent/PAUTA). Its basic
goals were to improve science education and promote equity. This presenta
tion explores the evolution of the learning and teaching methods which hav
e been at the core of our educational practice. A constructivist approach
to learning applied in extracurricular spaces and the diverse cultural and
linguistic contexts in relation to the development of scientific abiliti
es\, are the central themes of this presentation.
