DESCRIPTION:Obtaining a quantized electrical current would enable the rede
finition of the electrical quantities in the SI-unit system. In addition\,
studying the error sources of the current quantization reveals informatio
n about the physics behind the devices. We present current quantization ob
tainable with the so-called SINIS turnstile. We have observed the electrom
agnetic environment\, two-electron Andreev tunneling and the quasiparticle
excitations to give rise to errors in these devices. We present the exper
iments revealing these error sources and show that by proper design\, thes
e error sources are suppressed. Furthermore\, understanding the error sour
ces allows us for example to probe electron-phonon interaction in supercon
ducting state and to realize experimentally a Szilard's engine.
