DESCRIPTION:Globally\, agriculture is the greatest threat to biodiversity
and a major contributor to anthropogenic CO2 emissions. Both pressures wil
l increase over coming decades as populations and per capita consumption i
ncrease. How we choose to produce food will\, to a large extent\, determin
e the state of biodiversity and the wider environment in the 21st Century.
My research examines different potential land-use strategies in Yucatán\
, Mexico\, to identify landscapes that minimise biodiversity loss and maxi
mise carbon storage\, whilst meeting current and future food demands.
