DESCRIPTION:This is a three day summit\, involving:\n\n*The Immunology of
Ageing \n\nIt is clear that the immune system undergoes age-associated alt
erations\, producing a progressive deterioration in the ability to respond
to infections and to develop immunity after vaccination. This event will
discuss this Immunosenescence\, both within the innate and adaptive immune
systems. While discussing the mechanisms that contribute to immunosenesce
nce\, there will be plenty of networking opportunities and also debate re
lating to potential therapies that could be employed to help the populatio
n live longer\, fuller and healthier lives. \n\n*Biomarkers and Ageing \n\
nBiomarkers of ageing could help to characterise biological age and be use
d\, not only to identify individuals at high risk of developing age-associ
ated diseases or disabilities\, but also could lead to anti-ageing therapi
es. This event will discuss the current research to identify and character
ise biomarkers for ageing in an informal atmosphere. Abstract submissions
are encouraged for both oral and poster presentations and there will be p
lenty of opportunity of networking with experts in the field.\n\n*Establis
hing Anti-Ageing Medicines\n\nThe last three decades have shown us how pla
stic the ageing process can be. It is becoming apparent that\, with increa
sed knowledge\, more and more of the negative consequences of ageing can n
ow be tackled\, postponed or avoided. This meeting aims to review the most
up to date science about how we can positively modulate ageing and the im
plementation of such results to human ageing.
