DESCRIPTION:The initial steps for the derivation of a new subdivision sche
 me based on half-box splines are discussed. The scheme can be thought of a
 s the dual of Loop's scheme\, and can therefore be a applied to any three-
 valent mesh. We also take a brief look at a classification method for subd
 ivision schemes using the concept of rep-tiles.
