DESCRIPTION:Just infinite groups are a generalisation of finite simple gro
 ups in the case of profinite groups and natural examples of just infinite 
 groups have been widely studied in the past. ​Wilson type groups were fi
 rst introduced as an example of hereditarily just infinite groups which ar
 e not virtually pro-p. In the first part of the talk I will give some moti
 vation of the importance of this family and I will show the construction o
 f Wilson type groups via iterated exponentiation of finite non-abelian sim
 ple groups. In the second part I will address two generation problems: fin
 d explicit generators and determine the lower rank of Wilson type groups.
