DESCRIPTION:Meteorites provide us with samples of the Moon\, Mars and many
different types of asteroids. Studying them has revealed the origin and e
volution of the Solar System and the complexities of planetary differentia
tion and modification. We search for meteorites in places where there are
few terrestrial samples\, and where they can be easily distinguished from
terrestrial rocks. Many thousands of meteorites have now been collected in
Antarctica\, and most have been found in concentrations at trap sites alo
ng mountain ranges. This talk will discuss meteorite hunting expeditions t
o Antarctica and discuss the icefield sites that host meteorite concentrat
 ions.
