DESCRIPTION:The talk will look at some of the work being done at BAS to un
 derstand the history of the Antarctic Ice Sheet to inform predictions of f
 uture sea level rise. Areas covered will include correcting satellite-base
 d estimates of ice mass change\, land and ocean evidence of past ice sheet
  extent and thickness\, and a forward look at potential work on the histor
 y of sub-glacial seaways.  \n\nThe talk will be aimed at a non-specialist 
 audience and will last less than 30 minutes!
