DESCRIPTION:Dealing with data - big and small - has become an integral par
 t of our digital society. Industry\, science\, politics and individuals ar
 e constantly generating data. One of the most important tools for making s
 ense of the data are visualizations. \nCreating visualizations is not only
  a technical challenge - it is also a design challenge. In my talk I will 
 argue that in order to create meaningful\, interactive and aesthetic data 
 visualizations\, they need to be crafted by designers who understand data\
 , programming\, statistics as well as visual communication and interaction
  design.\n
