DESCRIPTION:The Standard Model of particle physics has been confirmed to i
 ncredible precision in numerous tests\, most\nrecently with the discovery 
 of a Higgs boson at the LHC.  However\, it has many shortcomings\, includi
 ng the\nhierarchy problem\, and failures to explain baryon asymmetry\, dar
 k matter\, dark energy\, and gravity.  There\nmust be physics beyond the S
 tandard Model.  I will review searches for new physics with the CMS detect
 or\,\nusing the LHC Run 1 data\, with a focus on exotic physics including 
 dark matter and long lived particles.
