DESCRIPTION:In this talk I will describe our participation in the CoNLL 20
 14 shared task on grammatical error correction. Our submission uses a hybr
 id approach that includes both a rule-based and an SMT system augmented by
  a large web-based language model. We also show that correction type estim
 ation can be used to remove unnecessary corrections\, improving precision 
 without harming recall. Our system achieves state-of-the-art results\, ran
 king first on the original test set and second on the test set with altern
 ative annotations.
