DESCRIPTION:The scientific method is increasingly recognised as being rele
vant to\ncomputer science. Indeed some have claimed that computational sci
ence\nis the third methodological branch of science. Paramount to the\nsci
entific method is the ability to reproduce experiments. In computer\nscien
ce reproducibility can be characterised as providing sufficient\ndetail ab
out code\, method and data. Unfortunately such details are\noften not prov
ided. In this talk we look at two case studies:\nmeasurement studies of o
nline social networks and wireless networks.\nWe examine the current state
of sharing methods and data\, discuss a\nsystem that we have developed to
help document and share online social\nnetwork research methodologies\, o
ur efforts in helping share data in\nwireless networks\, and outstanding c
hallenges in helping make computer\nscience research more reproducible.\n\
nBio: Tristan Henderson is a Senior Lecturer and Director of Recruitment i
n\nthe School of Computer Science at the University of St Andrews. When\nn
ot neck high in undergraduate applications\, he attempts to do the odd\nsp
ot of teaching and even some research. His research aims to better\nunders
tand user behaviour and use this to build improved systems\; an\napproach
which has involved measurements and testbeds for networked\ngames\, wirele
 ss networks\, mobile sensors\, smartphones\, online social\nnetworks and o
pportunistic networks. He runs the CRAWDAD data archive\n(http://crawdad.o
 rg)\, the world's largest wireless network data\narchive\, with over 110 d
atasets and tools in use by over 6000 users\nfrom 101 countries. Tristan h
as degrees in both dismal and aspiring\nsciences (Economics and CS) from C
ambridge and UCL. For more\ninformation\, see http://tristan.host.cs.st-an
