DESCRIPTION:Few imagine that we can do without new ideas in energy\,\nbut 
 those ideas will be of little value unless finance is available to take th
 em into the real world. How do ideas get\nfunding? What are the particular
  challenges for funding innovation in the energy sector?\n\nOur next event
  will address the issues in an open debate\, seeded by several highly-qual
 ified speakers on the subject:\n\nTony White of Climate Change Capital. Dr
 . Anthony White MBE is Head of Advisory at CCC. He has been\ninvolved in a
 lmost all aspects of the energy industry\, ranging from renewable energy r
 esearch through to strategy\,\nfinance\, international development and pol
 icy. He was a founding member of the UK Governments Energy\nAdvisory Pan
 el\, a member of the National Grids Executive Committee and Head of the 
 European Utility Research\nteams at Kleinwort Benson and Citigroup. This t
 eam was recognised by Extel in 2002 as being the worlds best\nsector tea
 m covering European Companies and led the research for the privatisations 
 of Enel\, Endesa\, MVV\, REE\,\nSnam and Enagas.\n\nDr. Peter Davidson\, n
 on-executive director of D1 Oils plc\, a UK-based global producer of biodi
 esel which listed\non AIM in October 2004. Peter is a chartered chemical e
 ngineer formerly with ICI. He has wide experience in\nchemical plant techn
 ology\, design\, commissioning\, operations\, research and development. He
  managed the research\nand development of a number of ICI businesses inclu
 ding Katalco\, Tioxide and Quest Foods\, and served on the ICI\nTechnology
  Board for ten years\, latterly with responsibility for Bio-Science. He is
  a Fellow of the Royal Academy of\nEngineering and a Fellow of the Institu
 tion of Chemical Engineers.\n\nAdam Workman\, Investment Manager at the Ca
 rbon Trust. The Carbon Trust is a private company that invests\nGovernment
  funds in new\, clean energy and low carbon technologies. It has a large\,
  full-time technical due diligence\nteam and invests pari passu with speci
 alised and mainstream VC firms. It also funds low carbon incubators and\ni
 nvests in third party funds. Adam is a geophysicist by training and worked
  for Shell and 3i before joining the Carbon\nTrust.\n\nLynne McGregor\, Im
 perial College Innovations Ltd. Lynne manages the Imperial Carbon Trust In
 cubator\, a\nvirtual incubator which provides business incubation and comm
 ercialisation services under the Carbon Trusts\nIncubation Programme. Th
 e incubator has helped a range of renewable energy\, energy efficiency and
  enabling\ntechnology-based businesses become investment ready\, including
  two Cambridge based companies. Lynne has a\nchemical engineering backgrou
 nd with over twenty years of experience in business development\, sales an
 d marketing\nand new business start-ups..\n\nEd Gillespie\, Creative Direc
 tor\, Futerra. Ed will be speaking about Shell Springboard\, a fund for sm
 all businesses\nwith big ideas on climate change. Shell Springboard is now
  open for a second round\, giving a cash boost to small\nbusinesses with a
  product or service that helps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Awards 
 of between £20\,000 and\n£40\,000 will be available in early 2007. www.s
