DESCRIPTION:This talk will explore recent work done to join together two\,
  previously unrelated\, concepts: machine learning and the automotive envi
 ronment.  Jaguar Land Rover Research call this idea the Self-Learning Car.
   \nUntil recently\, vehicular features have been developed using standard
  software and engineering techniques\, however this only works for a limit
 ed class of problems.  We therefore will explore some recent work on machi
 ne learning\, data mining and artificial intelligence techniques for devel
 oping new customer features\, and how these approaches have to be customis
 ed for use within the challenging automotive environment.  \nWe will also 
 look at the benefits\, opportunities and challenges of machine learning wi
 thin the automotive environment and will share our vision for the future o
 f this technology.
