DESCRIPTION:The Malaysian science curricula across disciplines and grade l
evels\, place great emphasis on the acquisition of science process skills.
Therefore\, assessing students’ acquisition of science process skills i
s an important aspect in the teaching and learning of science. While the M
alaysian science teachers measure students’ acquisition of science proce
ss skills through the school-based Practical Work Assessment\, problems ar
ise in the actual implementation that render the assessment as an inaccura
te reflection of the level of science process skills acquisition of indivi
dual students. This presentation introduces a complementary approach to me
asuring science process skills objectively by means of an inventory\, desc
ribing its development\, validation and utilisation.
