DESCRIPTION:Gross\, Hacking and I conjecture that the vector space of regu
 lar\nfunction on a smooth affine manifold with a holomorphic volume form (
 of the\nright sort) comes with a canonical basis. I'll explain\, in langua
 ge\naccessible to a\nsecond year graduate student\,  the conjecture\, our 
 partial results --\nthe proof\nin dimension two\, and\, together with Kont
 sevich\, for cluster varieties\nof all dimension\,\nand some of the many a
 pplications\, to representation theory\,\nteichmuller theory\, mori\ntheor
 y\, symplectic geometry\, cluster algebras\, and mirror symmetry.\n
