 nThe $1\,000 genome has been a catchphrase of the sequencing industry for 
 years. Since the start of this year\, it may finally be within reach\, tri
 ggering a factory-scale demand of human genome sequencing. In this journal
  club\, I will introduce mainstream and competing technologies\, specifica
 lly nanopore sequencing\, enabling the rapid decrease in sequencing time a
 nd cost. After a brief snapshot on DNA origami\, the discussion might evol
 ve around opportunities and risks associated with genome sequencing and DN
 A nanotechnology.
