  we will give an overview of our comprehensive treatment of the parabolic 
 Signorini problem\, based on a generalization of Almgren's monotonicity of
  the frequency. In particular\, we will discuss the optimal regularity of 
 solutions\, the classi fication of free boundary points\, the regularity o
 f the regular set\, and the structure of the singular set. \n
