Pengwan Chen\, Head of School of Materials Science and Engineering\, Bei
 jing Institute of Technology

DESCRIPTION:Various quasi-static and dynamic tests\, including Brazilian t
est\, semi-circular bending test\, uniaxial compression and punch loading
tests\, are used to study the mechanical properties of a low-strength\, br
ittle highly-particle-filled composite. Digital image correlation (DIC) te
chnique is applied to study the macro-micro deformation and fracture behav
ior of the composite\, by which the displacement fields\, strain fields an
d failure process can be measured. The deformation and failure mechanisms
of the composite will be discussed based on the experimental measurement a
 nd microstructure-based meso-sacle numerical simulation.
