DESCRIPTION:The bowerbird family has a uniquely complex multimodal courtsh
ip display. The most distinctive element of their display is the use of de
corated display courts. Male tooth-billed bowerbirds use leaves to decorat
e their courts. I have found that males differ in their leaf use\, and tha
t individuals are highly consistent in the species composition of leaves o
n their courts. There are several possible explanations for this consisten
cy. Using observational and experimental data I have collected\, I will at
tempt to expose which is (or are) the most likely reason for male consiste
 ncy in leaf use.
