DESCRIPTION:Transport through porous media has gained considerable attenti
on in recent decades due to its relevance to a wide range of applications.
These include applications in biomechanics\, enhance geothermal systems (
EGS)\, carbon capture storage (CCS)\, transpiration cooling and heat trans
fer enhancement (HTE) in heat exchangers. It is now well known that heat c
onvection can be enhanced through using porous material. In HTE\, it is pr
eferred not to fully fill the system with the porous medium. This is to av
oid the significant pressure drops occurring in the fully filled systems.
Therefore\, partial filling is an attractive way of enhancing heat transfe
r\, while maintaining the pumping expense at a reasonable level.\nThis sem
inar presents analytical and numerical investigations of forced convective
heat transfer in a porous media under local thermal non-equilibrium condi
tion with different interface thermal boundary condition at the porous-flu
id interface. The emphasize is put on improvement the prediction of temper
ature fields and rate of heat transfer within a porous medium.\n
