DESCRIPTION:This lecture will describe the CommunityRx programme in the co
 ntext of the U.S. Affordable Care Act and the U.S. Institute of Medicine m
 odel for an intersectoral health system. CommunityRx  is a large-scale eff
 ort in Chicago to operationalise the connection between clinical  medical 
 care and the resources of the community that people use for wellness\, ind
 ependent living and disease management. It has grown from a collaboration 
 between university researchers and community practitioners and leaders usi
 ng an approach  called Asset-Based Community Engaged Research. The public-

 .org/  This work is funded by a Health Care Innovation Award from the U.S.
  Department of Health and Human Services Centers for Medicare and Medicaid
  Innovation Center.\n \nAbout the Speaker: Dr Landau is the director of th
 e South Side Health and Vitality Studies (SSHVS) based in Chicago https://
 thestudies.uchicago.edu/node at the University of Chicago Urban Health Ini
 tiative.  SSHVS works to create and spread knowledge that people and commu
 nities can use to sustain excellent health and vitality.  The studies incl
 ude MAPSCorps\, the Comer Childrens Hospital Food Pantry and Food Security
  Project\, the South Side Health and Technology Study\, and CommunityRx.  
 CommunityRx\, supported by a 2012 Healthcare Innovation Award from the Cen
 tres for Medicare and Medicaid\, leverages health information technologies
  to link people and places to improve individual health and grow community
  vitality.\n \n \n \nDr Landau is also Associate Professor of Obstetrics &
  Gynaecology and Medicine-Geriatrics whose other area of interest/expertis
 e is around management of sexual disorders in women with cancer. At the Un
 iversity of Chicago National Cancer Institute-funded Comprehensive Cancer 
 Center\, she directs a clinical and research program called the Program in
  Integrative Sexual Medicine for Women with Cancer. She is also the founde
 r and chair of the international Scientific Network on Female Sexual Healt
 h and Cancer http://cancersexnetwork.org/. She would be very happy to meet
  with colleagues who have an interest in that research programme or in joi
 ning the international network.
