DESCRIPTION:We discuss classical integrable impurities associated to high 
 rank algebras. The vector non-linear Schroedinger model is chosen as a pro
 totype. A systematic construction of local integrals of motion as well as 
 the time components of the corresponding Lax pairs is presented based on t
 he underlying classical algebra. Suitable gluing conditions compatible wit
 h integrability are also extracted. The defect action is also examined in 
 the presence of two distinct types of integrable boundary conditions. It t
 urns out that certain boundaries may drastically alter the bulk behavior\,
  and in particular the defect contribution.
