DESCRIPTION:People play a key part in the energy performance of buildings\
, through design\, operation control and management. At the same time\, hu
man physiology and psychology define many of the requirements of the built
environment. A building’s energy use can be 40% above expectations\, du
e to the inefficient behaviour of its occupants\, who might heat empty roo
ms\, open windows rather than turn down heating\, and forget to turn the h
eating down when they leave. \nThis seminar will explore some of the resea
rch that studies the interaction between people and building energy perfor
mance from various vantage points\, demonstrating the challenges in this a
 rea of investigation.\n
