SUMMARY:Evolution of vertebrate photoreception and retinoid cycle: Clues
from the eye transcriptome of basal vertebrates - Professor Trevor Lamb\,

DESCRIPTION:We have obtained the eye transcriptome for the hagfish\, _Epta
tretus cirrhatus_\, as well as for several southern hemisphere lamprey spe
cies\, by high-throughput sequencing and de novo assembly. Analysis of th
e phylogenetic trees for a number of components of interest provides clues
to the evolution of phototransduction\, photoreceptors\, and the retinoid
  cycle in vertebrates.
