DESCRIPTION:The University of Valenciennes (UVHC) has been involved in the
  development of the concept of Intelligent Product for years. This present
 ation aims first at pointing out the specific theoretical foundations of t
 his concept from our point of view as well as our methodological way to va
 lidate our contributions using our manufacturing cell. Then\, some illustr
 ative examples from past and on-going projects in the service industry (tr
 ansportation\, energy\, logistics) are provided. Reluctance to this concep
 t and future developments are finally discussed.
